A two-, three- or four-panel layout describes the panels across the frame. It does not tell you how many panels move or how wide the passage will be. Compare each series’ tracks and operating arrangement, then confirm the overall frame size and usable opening for your chosen layout.
For Midwest and Northeast homes, review the whole-door U-factor and SHGC available for the chosen series and glass package. Check the threshold, sill support, drainage and exposure with your installer. Compare equivalent sizes and layouts when assessing performance; glass-only figures do not describe the complete door.
Choose an available series, size, layout, glass and finish in the designer. Review the configured price and the separate delivery, tax and order-level charges. Wide frames and large panels need a receiving and handling plan; confirm site access and installation timing before placing your order.
Start with the panel arrangement, then compare the actual frame dimensions. A four-panel door can have two fixed outer panels and two sliding center panels. A stacking system uses multiple tracks to move panels behind one another. The number of panels does not equal the number that open.

View this configuration and priceNominal opening labels and actual frame dimensions differ. Compare the frame width and height shown on each configuration, and confirm the rough opening and installation allowance with your installer. An 8-foot nominal height may have a 95.25-inch frame in the catalog.
Ask for the clear opening of the selected layout, rather than dividing the frame width by the panel count. Confirm sill support, drainage, screen options, panel handling and delivery access. Large frames and glass panels need a suitable receiving and installation plan.
The linked examples are supplied as unassembled kits. Review their exact glass, finish and handle selections before comparing prices. US examples use Low-E 272 / clear; Canadian examples use Low-E 180 / clear. Production is estimated at 20–30 business days, with freight transit afterward.
Panes ships four patio-door series — Capri, Amalfi, Rimini and Aria. Each series offers specific panel counts and operation layouts; the panel vocabulary below describes what each configuration code means and which series supports it. All configurations are supply-only; freight, measuring and installation are arranged with your contractor.
Available configurations: 2-panel (LO, OR) · 3-panel (OLO, ORO) · 4-panel (OLRO)
Entry-level double-glazed sliding patio door. Capri uses the L/R notation: L is a fixed left panel, R is a fixed right panel, O is an operating panel that slides. 2-panel (LO) has a fixed left and sliding right; (OR) has a sliding left and fixed right. 3-panel (OLO) has sliding ends with a fixed left-center panel; (ORO) has sliding ends with a fixed right-center. 4-panel (OLRO) has sliding ends and two fixed centers.
Available configurations: 2-panel (LO, OR) · 3-panel (OLO, ORO) · 4-panel (OLRO)
Larger-opening double-glazed series using the same L/R notation as Capri. Same operation grammar, taller and wider frame limits. Amalfi 4-panel OLRO is the common configuration for openings over 10 feet wide.
Available configurations: 3-panel OXX (operates left-to-right) · 3-panel XXO (operates right-to-left) · 6-panel OXXXXO (bi-parting stack)
Standard sliding grammar (O = operating, X = fixed). OXX means the leftmost panel operates and stacks against two fixed panels on the right. XXO is the mirror. OXXXXO is a 6-panel bi-parting stack: both end panels operate and slide toward the center, stacking against the four fixed centers. Rimini is the series for the widest Panes bi-parting openings.
Available configurations: 3-panel Stacking OXX · 3-panel Stacking XXO · 6-panel Multi-Slide OXXXXO
Architectural series. Aria 3-panel stacking matches Rimini OXX/XXO. The 6-panel Multi-Slide OXXXXO is the top-end bi-parting configuration — both end panels operate and the four centers stack when fully opened. Aria is specified for premium architectural openings and prestige projects.
Decide whether the door should slide left-to-right, right-to-left or bi-part toward the center. Operating direction is viewed from OUTSIDE the opening. A left-to-right opening (OXX on Rimini/Aria, LO on Capri/Amalfi) has the moving panel start on the left and slide to the right. Bi-parting (OXXXXO on Rimini and Aria) only applies to 6-panel configurations.
A sliding patio door never gives a clear passage equal to the full opening width. In a 3-panel OXX, the operating panel is roughly one-third of the opening width; the clear passage is slightly less than that single-panel width because of the frame interlock. In a 6-panel OXXXXO bi-parting, the clear passage is roughly two panel widths once both ends are open. Confirm clear-passage dimensions on the series page before ordering.
Capri and Amalfi ship with double-pane Low-E glass and argon as standard. Rimini and Aria support the same glass package with heavier frames for larger openings. Triple-pane glass is available on specific configurations — confirm the glass package on the configured product page for each series. Each series page shows the exact U-factor, SHGC and VT for the selected glass choice.
Capri, Amalfi, Rimini and Aria ship as unassembled kits by default (listed as "Unassembled (Kit)" in the configured product page). Panels, tracks, hardware and screens arrive separately for site assembly. Confirm freight access and receiving arrangements for the kit crate — individual panels are large and heavy.
Look at the complete opening, the moving-panel space and the connection to the deck or patio.
Compare the complete frame width with the clear passage between the moving panels. Panel count alone does not describe the usable opening.
