Make the right choices for your opening
Single hung: a fixed upper section
The lower sash slides upward and tilts inward for cleaning. The upper section remains fixed, so plan separate access to its exterior glass. Compare this layout when bottom ventilation meets the needs of the room.
Explore single-hung windowsDouble hung: two operating sashes
Both sashes slide vertically and tilt inward. You can choose an upper or lower opening, and clean the exterior sash glass from inside with safe reach and proper support. Sash travel and overlap still limit the clear opening.
Explore double-hung windowsCompare the same complete configuration
Use the same frame size, finish, glass and installation details when comparing single-hung and double-hung prices. Single or double hung describes the moving sashes; double-pane or triple-pane describes the glass package.
Compare hung-window operationFit the room and the installation
Check reach over counters, interior room for tilt cleaning, and the opening requirements for your room. Both layouts can be specified for replacement or new construction with the appropriate installation details. Confirm manufactured frame dimensions before ordering.

Window ordering questions
Do both single-hung and double-hung windows tilt?
On the Panes models shown, the single-hung lower sash tilts and the upper section stays fixed. Both double-hung sashes tilt inward. Follow the selected model’s instructions and support the sashes safely during cleaning.
Does double hung mean double pane?
No. Double hung means two vertically moving sashes. Double pane means two layers of glass in an insulated glass unit. Select the operating style and available glass package separately.
Which finishes can I order for hung windows?
The configuration catalog includes white exterior/white interior and black exterior/white interior for these hung windows. Black interior is not offered for these configurations. The selected finish affects the price.
