Replacement windows and doors in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Identify the Wisconsin building category first

Wisconsin DSPS maintains separate guidance for one- and two-family dwellings through its Uniform Dwelling Code program. Tell the local building authority the building’s age, use and proposed work so the applicable requirements can be confirmed. A replacement quote should carry the accepted project specifications, rather than assume a new-home checklist applies unchanged to an existing property.

Give multifamily and commercial work its own review

DSPS commercial-building guidance covers buildings entered by the public or employees and residences with three or more units, subject to its stated exceptions. Identify the actual use and complete alteration scope with the responsible authority or designer. Provide the resulting product requirements before selecting windows or doors for that application.

Compare the selected unit with the room requirements

Number the openings and record room use, dimensions and current operation. Ask for the actual clear opening where it matters to the project, along with required safety glazing and complete-window performance information. Review the proposed size, operation and glass package together; a general product-family description does not verify every configuration.

Include the whole entrance and patio-door layout

Show frames, thresholds, sidelites and transoms in entrance photos, and mark swing and hardware preferences. For patio doors, identify the operating panel and direction. Have the installer assess wall conditions and any proposed opening changes, then approve manufacturing dimensions after the replacement method and surrounding work are agreed.

Confirm the Wisconsin delivery and installation handoff

Include the Kenosha address in the quote request and confirm the delivery arrangements for that property. For supply only, agree who verifies dimensions, receives the shipment and matches units to the accepted schedule. Keep removal, opening preparation, sealing and finishing responsibilities clear, and confirm availability before including requested installation in your plan.
