Picture Windows for Des Moines projects
Plan your Des Moines window order with the correct operation, dimensions and glass for each opening. A picture window is fixed glazing for light and views. It has no opening hardware and does not provide ventilation or an escape opening. Panes supplies the products; your own contractor approves final measurements and completes installation.

Each price is for one complete configured window or assembly with the dimensions and options listed. Images are renders of these configurations. Tax, delivery, measuring and installation are separate. Your contractor confirms the final manufacturing sizes and installation method.
Plan ventilation elsewhere
Identify the other operating windows or ventilation provisions for the room. When combining a picture window with operable units, show each section and its purpose on the window schedule.
Compare the surrounding frame profiles
Review the sightlines beside adjacent opening windows. A high fixed profile is a separate option intended to align with casement and awning profiles; choose the appropriate family for the complete elevation.
Made to order. Production estimates reflect the selected configuration and the factory working calendar. Custom sizes, glass, finishes and special shapes can change the estimate; freight transit is additional.
Confirm delivery access and freight for your Des Moines area address before ordering. Coordinate any pickup with the serving location after your order is ready. Arrange measurement and installation with your own contractor.
Plan your Des Moines area order
For an Iowa new build, mark picture units as fixed on the schedule and coordinate their glass and frame alignment with the operating windows. Include the largest frame dimensions when reviewing delivery and unloading access.
Confirm the measurements for this style
Confirm the outside frame size, glass specification, frame/flange details and cleaning access. Glass dimensions are smaller than the frame dimensions and must not be substituted for them.

Views from the Panes configurator
A fixed view, inside and out.
A picture window has fixed glass and no operating sash, crank or insect screen. These matched views show the same black exterior and white interior. Plan a separate operating window where you need ventilation, and compare frame profiles when placing fixed and opening windows together.
Black exterior
A 36 × 48 inch picture window with a black exterior and uninterrupted fixed glass. The stated dimensions describe the outside of the frame, not the visible glass or rough opening.
White interior
The same white interior without handles, sash locks or a screen. Plan safe access to the exterior glass for cleaning; this window does not open into the room.
Configurator renderings, not installation photographs. Frame size shown: 36 × 48 inches; no nailing flange. Confirm finishes using physical samples.

- U-factor
- Heat transfer through the complete window. Lower values indicate better insulation. U.S. values use Btu/(h·ft²·°F); metric equivalents use W/(m²·K).
- SHGC
- Solar heat gain coefficient, from 0 to 1. Lower values admit less solar heat.
- VT
- Visible transmittance, from 0 to 1. Higher values admit more visible light.
These reference configurations have no grilles. Each row preserves the NFRC manufacturer code for its frame, glass and gas combination. Select the matching series and glass package, and confirm the CPD number and label for your order. Different glass, grilles, frame systems and joined assemblies can have different ratings.
For Midwest and Northeast projects, compare heat transfer, winter sunlight and summer exposure together. A lower U-factor indicates less heat transfer. A lower SHGC admits less solar heat; a higher SHGC admits more. VT describes visible light transmission. Orientation, shading and local code affect the choice. NFRC ratings alone do not establish ENERGY STAR eligibility.
